Bring on the Bling! New Collection from Gothic Gala Lacquers

Provided for Honest Review

I have an exciting trio of Gothic Gala Lacquers polishes to show you today!  If you love in your face sparkle look no further.  I cannot wait to show you…so I won’t!

First up in this tantalizing trio of sparkletastic beauties we have 24kt Bling!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - 24kt Bling (No Topcoat)

Gothic Gala Lacquers – 24kt Bling (No Topcoat)

Oh yeah baby.  That polish is blingarrific alright.  Some of my friends tease me about my made up words but I still love them anyway.  24kt Bling is a silver textured polish with a LOAD of gold holographic microglitter and some larger silver holographic hexes.

Gothic Gala Lacquers - 24kt Bling (No Topcoat)

Application on this was great – there were no issues to report and these two pictures show two coats with no topcoat.  Without topcoat it is definitely a textured polish.  I love glittery textured polishes and I’m definitely not disappointed with these!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - 24kt Bling (With GGL Smooth Me Over and Topcoat)

Even though these are textured they will smooth out quite nicely.  I used one generous coat of Gothic Gala Lacquers’ Smooth Me Over and then topped the whole thing off with a shiny quick dry topcoat and it was nice and smooth!

Polishes used:  Tip Top – Toughen Up Basecoat; Gothic Gala Lacquers – 24kt Bling, Smooth Me Over; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Next up we have another gorgeous glittery extravaganza, Pink Ice:

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Pink Ice (No Topcoat)

Gothic Gala Lacquers – Pink Ice (No Topcoat)

While it’s obvious that this and 24kt Bling are in the same family there are some differences (aside from the obvious color difference).  Pink Ice is a dark pink holographic microglitter filled texture polish and instead of holographic hexes this one has small pink metallic dots throughout.

This one actually seemed slightly more textured to me than 24kt Bling and it may be slightly.  I still had no problems with application and am delighted with how easily it went on and how easy it was to clean up around the cuticles!  Sometimes polishes like this the glitter wants to cling for dear life but it really wasn’t that bad!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Pink Ice (With GGL Smooth me Over and Topcoat)

This picture shows Pink Ice with one generous coat of Smooth Me Over and a shiny quick dry topcoat.  I think that once it cured and settled it could have used another swipe of topcoat to make it glass smooth but I found this to be smooth enough for me and someone would have had to come up and actually touch it to notice that it wasn’t glass smooth.

Next up is my FAAAAVE-RITE!  Imagine me saying that in an Oprah voice…go on do it!  I love this one!  Sapphire Sizzle:

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Sapphire Sizzle (No Topcoat)

Gothic Gala Lacquers – Sapphire Sizzle (No Topcoat)

Looooook at that!  So, yes it is definitely purple BUT don’t be fooled…Sapphires come in every color of the rainbow and purple sapphires are gorgeous.  This one is a touch sheerer than 24kt Bling and Pink Ice.  Oh and where 24kt Bling has hexes and Pink Ice has dots…Sapphire Sizzle has aqua shreds in among all the glorious purple microglitter.   This is officially my first polish with shreds and I love them!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Sapphire Sizzle (No Topcoat)

I did mention that this one was a bit sheerer than the other two but I didn’t find that problematic.  This is still just two coats and no topcoat.  I love all the sparkly texture on these and I will be playing with them a little bit more later in a nail art application!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Sapphire Sizzle (With GGL Smooth Me Over and Topcoat)

Look how pretty with topcoats too!  I didn’t find any issues with smoothing this one out with a generous coat of Smooth Me Over and Topcoat.

Polishes used:  Polishes used:  Tip Top – Toughen Up Basecoat; Gothic Gala Lacquers – Sapphire Sizzle, Smooth Me Over; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

I think that these will be perfect in the coming winter months and they are universal enough to be used any time of year.   Bring the Bling is going to be available after this blog post goes up!

Gothic Gala Lacquers – Rave Collection Review!

Provided for Honest Review

Readers have I got an explosively BRIGHT post for ya’ll today!  Samantha at Gothic Gala Lacquers reached out to me and asked if I would like to review her new neon collection and I answered yes so quickly that I’m relatively sure that her head spun.  I have been stalking my mailbox like a crazed addict looking for a fix…of course since I work from home and I often go to the mailbox in various stages of pajamas well…people may already think I’m a crazed addict.  I digress!

So Raves…I have to admit even though I graduated high school in the 90s I’ve never been to a Rave.  I’m now what I would consider too old for a Rave but I have ALWAYS loved super bright flourescent colors!  This collection from Gothic Gala Lacquers does not disappoint on that front!  Not only that, the names are so very appropriate and I love them!

Let’s start off with Wasted Youth!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Wasted Youth

Now, this polish is a gorgeous glow in the dark reddish orange.  Let me tell you this is a BRIGHT almost traffic cone orange but neons and bright colors are so difficult to capture!  It also has a lovely pink shimmer that makes it very wearable.  I was timid about it and then I got it on the nail and I was like oh yeah this color works!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Wasted Youth

The formula on this is nice.  It is somewhat thick so you may find that you need to thin it slightly if you’re having some trouble working with it.  The trade off is that it’s a one coat polish.  It dries to a matte finish with a VERY slight texture to it (due to the Glow in the Dark pigment) but topcoat sorts the texture right out.  Oh wait did I mention this was one coat?  Oh yeah.  That’s right!  Photos show one coat plus topcoat!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Gothic Gala Lacquers – Wasted Youth; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Next up we have what I *thought* was going to be my favorite one out of the bunch I was sent.  S-extacy!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - S-extacy

Gothic Gala Lacquers – S-extacy

Holy COBALT BLUE Batman!  Seriously this is the most cobalty cobalt blue I’ve ever seen or owned.  This coming from the girl who owns no less than five TARDIS inspired polishes (Don’t judge.)  As if that wasn’t enough it’s shimmery as anything!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - S-extacy

Gothic Gala Lacquers – S-extacy

The formula on this was extremely similar to Wasted Youth.  A bit thicker than I’m used to but not unworkable.  I do think that this must be related to the GiTD pigment as well as the slight texture.  The thing about this one is that you will want to be very patient with application because it is awesomely pigmented and it can cause clean up around the cuticles to be a little time consuming.  Photos show one coat plus topcoat!

Next up is my favorite of the solids!  Face Melter!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Face Melter

Is your face melting?  It should be because this is one hot mamma jamma of a polish!  In the bottle I thought well isn’t that nice and I wasn’t as excited as I was about the blue and then I put on this awesomeness.  This is a gorgeous flourescent purple (heavy on the red) shimmer.  It is so flattering on me and it was quickly elevated to my favorite of the bunch!

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Face Melter

Gothic Gala Lacquers – Face Melter

Ahhh just look at that!  This one is a little thinner formula then the other two and I did do two thin coats for this polish.  They all were very self-leveling and I didn’t have any problems on that front so I had no trouble achieving this super smooth application.  Photo shows two thin coats plus topcoat!

Polishes used:  Polishes used:  Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Gothic Gala Lacquers – Face Melter; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

The fourth and final polish today is a matte neon glitter topper that also glows in the dark!  Neon Night Life!  I’m going to show it on all three of the previous colors because it truly goes with all of them PERFECTLY!   I do prefer it on S-extacy and Face Melter but it totally works on Wasted Youth as well!

I think that the GiTD pigment strikes again and this is definitely a thick glitter topper.  Again one of the bonuses of this is that it practically needed no topcoat to achieve a smooth shiny finish.  You definitely will need to employ the dab method however in order to achieve a nice even coat.  In the end I love it over Face Melter the best though it looks amazing on the other two.  All this pictures show one dabbed coat with topcoat.

Overall these colors make me super duper happy and I’m totally loving how crazy bright and awesome they are!  There are other colors too and I know that you are just dying to go check out the Rave Collection which are AVAILABLE now!  You can purchase Gothic Gala Lacquers on their Website.  Don’t forget to follow along on Facebook and Instagram for sneak peaks, sales, and other special things!

Lilac Dreams – Gothic Gala Lacquers

Nothing to Disclose

Helloooo again.   I really am trying to make this blog a  focus for me right now!  Plus I felt bad when I realized that I had gone a WHOLE MONTH without talking with you about nail polish and that is simply UNACCEPTABLE!

So let’s get today’s post started with one that surprised me.  A friend of mine sent this to me and of course I was delighted (gifted lacquer?  Uh hello delighted is an understatement).  So I trotted it off to my office and placed it in my to be swatched basket.  So when I took it out and put it on the first thing I noticed was that it dried matte (which was a small surprise just because I didn’t know) so I thought “well cool I’ll show both the matte look and with topcoat to make it shiny.”  So here it is matte:

Now…Lilac Dreams is a purplish-gray based polish with a strong purple shimmer interference.  When it dries matte it’s just lilac satiny perfection!

So then I said to myself, “Self!  Slap some topcoat on this!”  Well, my topcoat had been sitting near the air conditioner all night long so I start swiping it on and I look down and I’m sure that the look of puzzlement on my face was adorable.  I’m like huh why are my nails getting DARKER at the tips?

So I finish topcoating all my fingers and I’m still completely baffled.  Then suddenly after a few moments of staring and contemplating I have an epiphany (big words for the win).  So I take my fingers and put them in front of the air conditioner for a few moments and this is what I saw:

Look at that deep rich purple that it turned!!!  That’s right readers, I’m sure you’ve deduced (much like Sherlock and unlike me) that this is a thermal polish.  My only excuse is that I didn’t know.  But I had quite a bit of fun with an ice cube after I figured it out.

The formula on this was lovely.  It went on smoothly in two coats and even in the matte finish didn’t show brushstrokes (which I HATE so I was super happy about that).

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Gothic Gala Lacquers – Lilac Dreams; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

I’ve definitely been happy with the Gothic Gala Lacquers I’ve gotten so far and it helps that the maker is super nice and easy to approach.  I really like that as well.  Plus she’s a Whovian and so therefore automatically awesome in my book!  She has a new website which you can visit to keep up to date and to buy your own pretties.  You can also keep up with all the news and cool pictures on her Facebook and Instagram.
