Alchemy Lacquers Lab Report – Moonshard Collection

Provided for Honest Review

Hello my gorgeous readers!  I know that I said that the Alchemy Lacquers Moonshards were going to be released a couple at a time however recently due to school and work schedules the amazing Rebecca has decided to go ahead and release the rest of them NOW!  That means you don’t have to wait and I can go ahead and show you the rest of the amazingness that I have!

Without further ado!

First up I have Io:

Alchemy Lacquers - Io

Alchemy Lacquers – Io

Io is a gorgeous squishy deep purple scattered holographic jelly polish and has a healthy dose of Ultrachrome flakies!  I’m not the biggest purple girl but this color is so luscious that I am utterly smitten!  I love the shift of the flakies in the jelly base and it is just a gorgeous polish!

Alchemy Lacquers - Io

First allow me to address, I’m not sure why it appears that the tips of my fingers aren’t fully polished – I assure you while I was looking at them in person I saw no issues with the polish,  it wasn’t until I was cropping these pictures that I noticed it.  I can only assume that the lighting or user error plays some factor.  Strange unpolished looking tips aside the formula on this is standard for a jelly – a bit sheer in the first coat but building up quite nicely due to the deep color.  Pictures show three coats plus topcoat

See this is the SAME nail (on the same day) as one of the ones that looks as if it’s unpolished.  In this picture it looks clearly as it’s supposed to.  Ah, well, hopefully ya’ll can overlook my obviously amateur photography skills.

Next up I have Phobos:

Alchemy Lacquers - Phobos

Alchemy Lacquers – Phobos

Phobos is like an amped up neutral!  Love that so much about this one.  It’s a light brownish jelly polish with ultrachrome flakies.  I feel like that there is some kind of shimmer or something or it could also just be the play of light on the flakies in the polish but it seems to have a magenta glow about it.

Alchemy Lacquers - Phobos

Alchemy Lacquers – Phobos

I love how shifty this one is due to the flakies in the light jelly base.  Formula was great, a nice spread on flakies and while it is a jelly polish it builds up to opacity without any problem.  Pictures show three coats plus topcoat.

Alchemy Lacquers - Phobos

Alchemy Lacquers – Phobos

Yeah this picture really shows how awesome the polish is!

Next up is Titan!

Alchemy Lacquers - Titan

Alchemy Lacquers – Titan

Yes my nail shape changed in this picture – sorry about that I had swatched some of these earlier and some later so there may be a slight variance in nail shape.  Enough about nail shapes!  Titan is a teal jelly base with blue and green ultrachrome flakies (multi shifts in each color) and that sort of gives it this teal leaning emerald color with sparks of gold.

Alchemy Lacquers - Titan

Alchemy Lacquers – Titan

Again formula is great – flakies spread evenly without issue.  Pictures show three coats plus topcoat!

So next up we have a topper, Pandora:

Alchemy Lacquers - Pandora (Over Indigo Bananas - Halcyon)

Alchemy Lacquers – Pandora (Over Indigo Bananas – Halcyon)

This one utterly freaked my camera out!  This is a shimmery shifty topper with multichrome flakies.  I honestly wasn’t sure how I would feel about it because it was a topper but Oh.My.HECK.  When I put it over purple I thought I was going to pass right out from the sheer gorgeousness!

Alchemy Lacquers - Pandora (Over Indigo Bananas - Halcyon)

Alchemy Lacquers – Pandora (Over Indigo Bananas – Halcyon)

So much shimmery shiftiness!  Perfect application which I would expect from a topper anyway.  Doesn’t seem streaky and the effect is very smooth over the base color.  Pictures show one coat over undies plus topcoat.

Alchemy Lacquers - Pandora (Over Indigo Bananas - Halcyon)

Alchemy Lacquers – Pandora (Over Indigo Bananas – Halcyon)

YES!  Look at those flakies shimmering there.  I paired this with a dark purple, Indigo Bananas – Halcyon.

Allow me to introduce you to Ganymede!

Alchemy Lacquers - Ganymede

Alchemy Lacquers – Ganymede

I LOVE this one so much.  It’s a maroonish jelly color shifting base with maroon/gold/whoknowswhatcolors multichrome flakies.  So the base is color shifting and the flakies are color shifting and well the whole thing is a shifty masterpiece!

Alchemy Lacquers - Ganymede

Alchemy Lacquers – Ganymede

I tried to catch some of the bronzy shift going on here.  So much play of color with this one!  Application was flawless and the flakies spread out nicely without manipulation.  Pictures show three coats plus topcoat.

Alchemy Lacquers - Ganymede

Alchemy Lacquers – Ganymede

You can REALLY see the shiftiness here.  So much love.

Last but certainly not least is Callisto!

Alchemy Lacquers - Callisto

Alchemy Lacquers – Callisto

Callisto is a creamy nude holographic polish with a plethora of multichrome flakies.  Such a bland way of saying its SPECTACULAR!  I love this one so much.  I’ve really got a thing for nude and nude-based polishes right now for some reason and this one really ticks the boxes for me.

Alchemy Lacquers - Callisto

Alchemy Lacquers – Callisto

The formula on this one is crazy good.  Even spread of flakies without manipulation, no dragging, and it built to opacity in two coats.  Pictures show two coats plus topcoat!

Alchemy Lacquers - Callisto

Every time I look at this picture I want to run and put this one on again!

Polishes used on all manis:  Barielle – Nail Rebuilding Protein; Alchemy Lacquers Moonshards; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Per usual you should definitely check out the links below to follow, drool over, and get your own Alchemy Lacquers.  There are a few more Moonshards that were released after I received these.  They are just as amazing and beautiful as these from what I’ve seen!

Alchemy Lacquers Lab Report – Moonshard Collection – Swatches and Review

Product provided for honest review

My dearest readers, I cannot wait to show you these gorgeous polishes from Alchemy Lacquers.  I’m sure by now everyone is highly well-versed in the ultrachrome flakie phenomenon.  I waited until I started to see something besides flakies and holo before jumping completely on the wagon because I was skeptical about longevity and what they could truly bring to the table in terms of pretty polish.  But makers quickly starting doing interesting things with the flakies and I was convinced that while the initial craze may die down, these are something that will enhance the polish game for awhile.

Then Rebecca; the amazing, the wonderful, the crazy-busy, the crazy-creative, genius that she is; started working with the flakies and developing gorgeous prototypes that set us all drooling with her sneak peaks.  Now the collection has a name, theme, and is ready to be unleashed upon the masses!  I think I pestered her daily through her entire testing phase.

The Moonshard collection is not a typical collection, it’s going to be released two at a time until they are all released and currently there are eight polishes in the collection, two of which were released at the same time as the Infinity Collection.  Each of the polishes is named after a moon in our solar system.  Without further ado, allow me to introduce you to the first two Moonshard polishes!

First up is Calypso:

Alchemy Lacquers - Calypso

Alchemy Lacquers – Calypso

Yes yes yes…everything about this polish is phantasmagorical!  Calypso is a sheer white-ish jelly based polish with a strong shimmering shifty quality of its own.  Then added to that is a healthy dose of holo and ohemgee the flakies!  A whole slew of ultrachrome flakies were added to the mix.  These gorgeous flakies shift from blue to purple to magenta and green.  Stunning.  There really is hardly a way to describe this polish because there is so much going on.  Suffice it to say it’s a must-have.

Alchemy Lacquers - Calypso

Alchemy Lacquers – Calypso

This is a sheer polish, but utterly buildable.  I didn’t have any problems with the formula or application.  The flakies spread out evenly and laid flat on the nail.  Unlike glitter there’s not a heavy texture to these so no special topcoating procedure needed to be done.  Pictures show three coats plus topcoat.

Alchemy Lacquers - Calypso (Macro)

Alchemy Lacquers – Calypso (Macro)

In my opinion that right there is the money shot.  Seriously if this doesn’t send you running to snag up your own bottle of this magic I don’t know what will!

Polishes Used:  Barielle – Nail Rebuilding Protein; Alchemy Lacquers – Calypso; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Next up is Oberon:

Alchemy Lacquers - Oberon

Alchemy Lacquers – Oberon

Oberon is amazing.  This is a metallic teal-based polish that shifts like crazy, is holographic, and oh yes has a healthy mixing of fabulous flakies.  It’s no secret that I’m a glitter junkie.  Not a lick of glitter exists in this polish and yet I am strangely addicted to how beautiful it is!  This is one that I may need back ups of back ups of.

Alchemy Lacquers - Oberon

Alchemy Lacquers – Oberon

Just look at that!  Gorgeous.  Anyway formula on this one was amazing.  Perfect coverage in two coats.  Flakies dispersed nicely throughout the polish.  Sometimes polishes with a strong metallic feel like this one get a little streaky and/or show every flaw on your nail but not this one, it self-leveled like a dream and I had a perfect smooth application.  Pictures show two coats plus topcoat.

Alchemy Lacquers - Oberon (Macro)

Can we just bask in the glory and amazingness of this polish for a few moments?

Polishes Used:  Barielle – Nail Rebuilding Protein; Alchemy Lacquers – Oberon; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Well what do you think about the first two releases from the Moonshard Collection?  Hit me up here or on Facebook, I promise I don’t bite…much.  You should totally go and snag these up before the masses catch wind of how gorgeous they are because you know how that goes!  You can find these at Alchemy Lacquers’ Etsy Shop.  If you want to keep up to date on all the news and sneaky peaks of upcoming polishes you should DEFINITELY follow Alchemy Lacquers on Facebook and Instagram.

Oh, and I don’t mention it much, but if you like what you read here you should totally follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Bloglovin’.  There are buttons up at the top right of your screen that will take you where you need to go!  On my Instagram you’ll see swatches but also a lot of my NOTD as well!

Alchemy Lacquers Lab Report – Infinity Collection

Sent for Honest Review

I have an absolutely fabulous collection to show you today my dear readers!  I’m sorry that I’ve been so absent lately but I graduate from college next week with my Bachelor’s Degree so I have been exceptionally busy.

I wanted to show you this collection though because it releases TODAY.  You’re definitely going to want to grab this collection in time for the Avengers: Age of Ultron that opens on May 1st since this collection is inspired by the Marvel comics and first as a group appeared in an Avengers comic book!  This is the Perfect collection of nail polish for any superhero (or supervillain) – loving person!  Rebecca, the mastermind behind Alchemy Lacquers, really is a fan of comic books and was inspired to create a collection to reflect that love!

I keep saying it but I’ll say it again, every collection is a little better than before in terms of execution of theme, ideas, and creativity.  Rebecca constantly wants to improve on her product, is ruthless with testing, and I can tell you that she spends months working on a collection before it comes out.  Sometimes it’s so hard to keep them under wraps!

Alchemy Lacquers - Infinity Stones Collection

Alchemy Lacquers – Infinity Collection

I’m going to break my pattern here and talk about formula right now because honestly they are all super similar in formula and application and rather than repeat myself ad nauseam  (college words for the win!) about how great the formula is I’m going to tell you at the top.  These are a collection of jelly holographic polishes so they are a touch sheer but they are meant to be to show off all the glitter and flakies.  All pictures show three coats and they are opaque.  The application was divine and I had no trouble getting a good finish with the polish, no streaking or dragging.

Because I can’t stand for things not to be orderly and in proper order we’re going to do this collection in rainbow order.  First up we have Ruby of Power:

Alchemy Lacquers - Ruby of Power

Alchemy Lacquers – Ruby of Power

Ruby of Power is a lovely red jelly holographic polish that has multi-shades red microglitter and UltraChrome Flakies!  The flakies in this polish shift from red to orange.  The complexity of a seemingly simple polish is amazing.

Citron of Reality is the yellow one in the bunch!  It’s a slightly green-leaning yellow jelly holographic base with multi-shades of yellow microglitter and UltraChrome Flakies.  The flakies shift between yellow and green which enhances the green-leaning bit of the polish.

Hubba hubba.  This is one of my favorites, it’s just the perfect shade of emerald green and it looks amazing on my skin tone so I definitely can’t wait to wear it again.  This is an emerald green jelly holographic polish with multi-shades of green microglitter and UltraChrome flakies.  The flakies shift between green and blue.

I never ever ever get tired of TARDIS blue polish.  Even though this one is not Doctor Who inspired it is still a perfect TARDIS blue!  This is a sapphire blue jelly holographic polish with multi-shades of blue microglitter and UltraChrome flakies.  The flakies in this one shift between blue and purple.

Last but certainly not least is Amethyst of Space:

Alchemy Lacquers - Amethyst of Space

Alchemy Lacquers – Amethyst of Space

I.Love.This.Polish.  I need back-ups of this one.  It’s so gorgeous I could just die, but on the other hand that would suck because then I couldn’t keep enjoying this polish!  This is a medium amethyst violet jelly holographic polish with multi-shades of purple microglitter and UltraChrome Flakies.  The flakies in this one shift between purple and red…Are you sensing a theme here???  Did you notice, readers, that the flakies in each one points to the next polish!!!???  How flipping awesome is that?!  This small detail just adds one more band of cohesion to an already tightly conceptualized collection.

Alchemy Lacquers Lab Report Part 2 – Arctic Alchemy

Provided for Honest Review

Hello my lovely readers.  I’m so sorry that this post has been delayed!  I’m still trying to get into the groove of this semester and it’s got my schedule all out of whack.  Seriously considering actually using my calendar function in my phone to start planning out my week which just hurts my spontaneous soul because I usually like to just fly by the seat of my pants most of the time.  Anywho enough about all of that you’re here to see the GORGEOUS polishes that I have right here in my hot little hands.  This is the rest of the Arctic Alchemy collection that I promised you!

First up is Thundersnow!

Alchemy Lacquers - Thundersnow

Alchemy Lacquers – Thundersnow

Thundersnow is a very slightly blue-leaning medium grey crelly base filled with blue microglitter, blue shimmer, and teensie tiny iridescent flakies.  This is another one that goes right to the top of the list for me.  It’s in my preferred color family and it’s just lovely!

Alchemy Lacquers - Thundersnow

Alchemy Lacquers – Thundersnow

Absolutely nothing bad to say about this polish at all.  The formula on it is perfection.  These pictures show two perfect self-leveling coats to perfection.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Thundersnow; Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Next up I have one of my favorites of the whole collection – Moraine:

Alchemy Lacquers - Morgaine

Alchemy Lacquers – Moraine

Now this one was a surprise to me!  I have used this polish two more times in nail art since I swatched it and ya’ll know that this nail polish addict has a crapload of nail polish and multiple uses out of one polish just doesn’t happen all that often.  This is a silver subtle linear holographic polish with flakies and a touch of that gold-silver shifty pigment that is used in the gilded polishes.  The result is a rich dimensional silver holographic polish that is anything but boring!

Alchemy Lacquers - Morgaine

Alchemy Lacquers – Moraine

I tried unsuccessfully to capture the holographic arc in this one because it was kind of dreary when I swatched it.  It is definitely there however and looks amazing in the sunlight!  The formula on this was very easy to work with.  Pictures show two coats plus topcoat and despite the fact that it has a metallic finish it doesn’t show brushstrokes which are the bane of my existence!  I was utterly delighted with this one.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Moraine; Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Now for my second favorite of the collection – Firn:

Alchemy Lacquers - Firn

Alchemy Lacquers – Firn

Oh…Em…GEE!  Everything about this polish makes me happy.  It is stunning in every single way imaginable.  We have an icy aqua blue linear holo with blue microflakies.  It’s a jelly base so it has a certain translucence that is just so lovely.  I will reach for this one over and over.

Alchemy Lacquers - Firn

Alchemy Lacquers – Firn

The holographic arc in this one is pretty strong as you can see some of it did come out to play in artificial light.  It has a jelly translucent base so it is sheer but the pictures show three coats.  It’s VERY nearly opaque here and on shorter nails or someone with a less prominent nail line it would be completely opaque.  For me personally because of the inspiration of the policy and the loveliness of it I didn’t mind the slightly sheer translucent quality at all in fact I rather enjoyed it!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Firn; Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Last but not least is the Arctic Gilded offering for this collection.  Gilded Icicles!

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Icicles

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Icicles

How.gorgeous.is.that?!  Seriously stunning!  Gilded Icicles is a gilded white jelly polish.  It is just the perfect wintery white polish ever.  It has that characteristic gold/silver shift that just gives it so much depth.

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Icicles

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Icicles

So this polish has a lot of shimmer and shine going on for it so it is a touch thicker in formula than the others.  That does not make it unworkable or unmanageable at all it’s just the way it is.  I’ve come to expect it from the Gilded polishes just because that seems to be the nature of the pigment that is in them.  I have never had any trouble with them the thickness that they come.  This shows two decent coats plust topcoat.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Icicles; Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Now these and some Valentine’s and Mardi Gras polishes are available RIGHT NOW in the Alchemy Lacquers’ Etsy Shoppe.  You should definitely go pick up these and some of those too!  You can also follow Alchemy Lacquers on Facebook and Instagram to get pretty pictures, teaser photos, and all the restock news you could ever want!
